We are an outdoor activity retail & rental store in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Fairmont Banff Springs, in beautiful Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. We rent downhill skis & boots, snowboards & boots, xc skis, skates and snowshoes. At our Banff location in the summer we rent e-bikes, hybrid bikes and mountain bikes – and fat bikes in the winter.

XC Skiing & Snowshoeing Adventures

Lake Louise Area Cross-Country Skiing 

Lake Louise Loop – Easy
4.1 km loop, 15 m elevation gain, double trackset. This loops features a wide open ski across frozen Lake Louise, followed by a fun “up & down” trip back through the woods.

Moraine Lake Road – Moderate
15.6 km return, 250 elevation gain, double trackset with skating line. Climbing steadily, this trail includes both gently rolling and hilly stretches. Tracksetting ends at a viewpoint of Consolation Valley and the Ten Peaks. Beyond the viewpoint, the road crosses large avalanche paths.

Great Divide (Old 1A) – Moderate
20 km return, 60 m elevation gain, double trackset with skating lane. Mostly flat, but trending gently downhill, this trail takes you to the “Great Divide” – the BC / Alberta border.

Banff Area Cross-Country Skiing

Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court – Easy
4 km loop. Providing basic level track-set cross country and skate skiing trails.

Spray River Trail West and East – Moderate
11 km loop located outside the Banff Springs Hotel. Double trackset with skating lane on the west side of river.

Lake Louise Area Snowshoeing

Lake Louise Shoreline – Easy
4 kms return, no elevation change. Starting in front of the Chateau Lake Louise, this trail features classic views.

Louise Creek – Moderate
5.6 kms return, 195 m elevation gain.

Highline Trail – Moderate
9 kms return, 60 m elevation gain.

Mirror Lake  – Moderate
5.4 kms return, 295 m elevation gain. Please note: Beyond Mirror Lake, the trail to Lake Agnes is rated as Challenging Class 2 terrain for avalanche exposure, and travel is not recommended.

Banff Area Snowshoeing

Johnson Lake Trail – Easy
2.8 km loop. A picturesque trail follows the lakeside shoreline with breathtaking views of Cascade and Rundle mountains.
